    GSTR-9

    For whom is filing of GSTR 9A return meant?

    A regular GST taxpayer who files GSTR-1 and GSTR-3 is required to file GSTR-9A, combining the data provided in the previous financial year.

    Does late filing of GSTR-9 return lead to a penalty?

    Late filing of GSTR-9 return leads to a penalty of Rs.100 per day, up to a maximum amount of Rs. 5000. A taxpayer can file GSTR-9 return on the GST Portal only after filing all the GSTR-1, GSTR-2, and GSTR-3 returns.

    Is it necessary to audit GSTR-9 return?

    Yes. Regular taxpayers having a yearly aggregate income of over Rs. 2 crores during a financial year, who are registered under GST, are required to the GSTR-9 return with audited accounts. A practicing Chartered Accountant or Cost Accountant can audit the GSTR-9 accounts.
